A Journey…

The first steps for Metzo Importers, a distribution of Cretan Products Company, were taken in 2018. However, the beginning of the journey had taken place many years ago when its founder,Yiani Galanos, at the age of 22 left behind the blessed place of Crete and arrived in America to study Business and Marketing.

His first business steps were taken in the fast-food industry where he quickly managed to grow his success thanks to his hard work. For him, the biggest success will always be his family.

At 25 years old Yiani, married his wife Dimitra. He quickly had his first-born Christina in 1994, followed by his son Vasili in 1996, and his youngest Leonidas born in 2010. Christina and Vasilis successfully follow their own business path as young entrepreneurs while having an active role in shaping the identity of Metzo importers.

Although America is the vessel where Yiani successfully achieves his business ideas, the leading place in his heart has always been his village, Faratsi in Mylopotamos Crete. He finds himself “returning” every day through his childhood memories and Cretan products which he wishes to import.

As Yiani Galanos reminisces he states, “I remember during the harvest the sweet taste of the grapes under the Cretan sun and the distinctive aroma of the olives falling into the basket which became the metzo olive oil. This is where my idea started to import these unique flavors which no technology could manage to create... because they are made from the heart.”

This phrase is what starts the journey of Metzo Importers which, unites places, people and taste, with the same destination.
